imagesVILLA PARK- State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) issued the following statement after the Gov. Rauner signed House Bill 3763 into law to fund Illinois public schools.
HB 3763 will change the funding formula to provide struggling schools additional state funding. The two largest school districts in the 23rd State Senate District, School District U-46 will receive an additional $15 million and Marquardt School District 15 will get an additional $965,000.
“I applaud the governor for making school funding the top priority. This measure will not only guarantee our local schools will open their doors this fall, but also provides substantial increases in education funding in Illinois.

“Schools in our district will receive over $17 million in additional funding to hire more teachers to decrease class sizes and keep our property bills down. To grow as a state, we need to continue to make investments in our young people’s futures.”
HB 3763 increases K-12 education spending by $244 million and early childhood education funding by $25 million.
