TCCommitteeAprilVILLA PARK – State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) voted for a property tax freeze in Springfield last week.

Unfortunately, the vote came up short of the required 36 votes for the legislation to immediately take effect.

“I’m disappointed. Despite my support, we weren’t able to provide area residents with property tax relief," said Cullerton. “Rising property taxes continue to be the number one concern that I hear from people throughout the district whether I talk to them at town hall meetings, senior fairs or when I knock on their doors.”

Cullerton says he will keep looking for ways to ease the burden for suburban residents. His office will continue to hold seminars to help area residents with appealing their property tax bills.

“We need to do whatever we can to help DuPage County find additional savings in their tax bills,” said Cullerton. “We’ve already lowered income taxes in Illinois, property taxes should follow suit.”
