"The number one issue we hear in the 23rd district and throughout DuPage County is the giant burden of property taxes. The residents of the 23rd district have asked me to find solutions for this problem. I will continue to serve as a voice for hard-working families and fight for common sense reforms in Springfield," said Senator Tom Cullerton.

052214 js 0399SPRINGFIELD – Illinois has the second-highest property tax rates in the country. To provide relief to homeowners, State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) voted for a property tax freeze.

“The number one issue we hear in the 23rd district and throughout DuPage County is the giant burden of property taxes,” said Cullerton. “The residents of the 23rd district have asked me to find solutions for this problem. I will continue to serve as a voice for hard-working families and fight for common sense reforms in Springfield.”

Senate Bill 318, passed by the Illinois Senate this week with a vote of 37-1-18, will provide meaningful relief for Illinois homeowners by freezing property taxes for two years.

“The governor has said this is a priority for his administration,” said Cullerton. “I’m always willing to find common ground while working with our governor. This legislation is a great step to making Illinois a stronger state.”
