tc silver beat addison RSVILLA PARK- National Center for Victims of Crime reported that Americans age 65 and older are more likely to be targeted by fraudsters and more likely to lose money once targeted.

State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) is working to give area seniors the proper resources to combat scams specifically targeting seniors.

Cullerton is working with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office to host two informational seminars in Addison and Lombard on April 21.

He is encouraging area residents to join him to learn about how to identity theft, checking credit reports and how to file consumer fraud complaints.

“Protecting seniors is a top priority. These seminars offer them an opportunity to learn how to protect themselves from fraud,” Cullerton said.

Representatives from the Illinois State Treasurer’s ICash program will be present as well to help reunite DuPage County residents with their unclaimed property.

The treasurer’s ICash program puts people in touch with property sitting in state accounts that hasn’t been claimed.tc silver beat lombard RS
