tc shred 2017GLENDALE HEIGHTS-Consumer fraud and identity theft are becoming a growing epidemic in Illinois.

To promote prevention, State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) and the Village of Glendale Heights are offering free paper shredding services for area residents.

To help reduce the chances of identity theft, experts recommend shredding things like bank statements, credit card offers and credit card convenience checks. Residents should also shred canceled credit cards, canceled checks, pay stubs, old photo IDs and tax returns that are more than three years old.

To accommodate all participants the limit is two boxes of residential shredding per a person. Boxes and bags will be returned.

No business shredding will be accepted.

Time: 9 a.m. to noon

Seasonal School Crossing Guards: This position involves regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic at an assigned location at designated times when children are walking to and from school.  The School Crossing Guard must be aware of suggested school travel routes and be able to interact with school authorities concerning the safety of the children.

Part-Time Program & Facility Coordinator: Duties include instructing and monitoring, on a given shift, community recreation programs at all facilities including leagues (both indoor and outdoor), cultural arts, general activities, special activities for seniors, adults, teens and youth.

Intermittent Bartenders and Waitstaff: This position is responsible for providing bartending service at the bars in the Banquet Rooms, and the bar at Glendale Lakes Golf Club and the Center for Senior Citizens.  This position takes customer's food and beverage orders and serves food at the bar and window; provides bartending service in the banquet rooms during events.  This position is also required to work Waitstaff shifts depending on event scheduling.

The Board of Police and Fire Commissioners of the Village of Lombard, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of police officer with the Lombard Police Department.

Salary: $66,946 to $94,328 (7 years)
Population: 45,000
Sworn Police Officers: 69

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established the Village of Lombard:

•    U.S. citizenship
•    Residents of the State of Illinois
•    No felony convictions (Note: a misdemeanor or serious traffic offence may also disqualify applicants from further consideration)
•    Valid state-issued driver's license
•    Possess 20/20 corrected vision
•    Minimum of 21 years of age by the application deadline date (September 13, 2017)
•    Be UNDER 35 years of age on the date of appointment, unless the candidate is currently employed as a police officer in regularly constituted police department of any municipality which extends the age to 40 years of age
•    Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalent
•    Completed a minimum of 60 credit hours at an accredited college, university of junior college (official transcripts will be required at the background investigation stage) - OR - have one year of active military or naval service (documented by an honorable discharge) -OR- currently a certified police officer in the State of Illinois by the application deadline date (September 13, 2017)
•    Current Illinois certified police officers with a minimum of two years of service are eligible to be placed on a lateral eligibility list. Please note all lateral candidates must fulfill all other minimum testing requirements (POWER Test card and written exam)
•    Possesses a valid NIPSTA card -OR- equivalent criteria as per the State standard, issued with 12 months of the written exam date (September 23, 2017);
        POWER Test Cards issued by Triton College or Joliet Junior College will be accepted
        Applicants must present the POWER test card NO LATER than the written exam date (September 23, 2017)
•    Pay a $45.00 non-refundable application processing fee.

A maximum of (5) preference points will be awarded as determined by the Village of Lombard for any one of the following:

Education: Persons who have successfully obtained an Associate's Degree in the field of law enforcement or criminal justice -OR- a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Copy of unofficial transcripts must be submitted with application to qualify.
Experience: Persons who have been awarded a certificate of successful competition of the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Training Course (Certified Illinois Police Officer). Copy of the state-issued certification must be submitted with application to qualify.
Military: Persons who are engaged in the military or naval service of the United States for at least one year, and were honorably discharged -OR- who are now, or hereafter be on inactive or reserve duty in such military or naval service. A copy of FORM DD-214 or equivalent proof of current military service must be submitted with application to qualify.

Mandatory Orientation and Written Examination Testing: Following completion of all application materials and review of minimum qualifications, successful applicants will be invited to attend the following:

TCJobFair2017FINALVILLA PARK – More than 100 local and regional employers are looking to hire DuPage County residents at Villa Park Democrat, Tom Cullerton’s Fifth Annual Job Fair.

Cullerton is working with a number of area chambers of commerce and the Illinois Department of Employment Security to make this year’s job fair his largest event yet. The event is free for local businesses and for job seekers.

On August 23, doors will open at the Odeum Expo Center at 10 a.m. for area veterans and then for the general public from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cullerton is excited to announce Greco and Sons, SWD Inc., Illinois State Police, DuPage County along with many others will be looking for qualified candidates, accepting resumes and giving on-the-spot interviews.
