ShredDayVILLA PARK – State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) will host a document shredding event on Saturday, August 20 at the Village of Glendale Heights, 300 Civic Center Plaza.

“With the day to day lives everyone leads, sometimes old and unnecessary documents pile up and many have no way to safely get rid of them,” Cullerton said. “This is an opportunity for the community to safely and easily dispose of their unneeded documents.”

Documents will be accepted for shredding from 10:00 a.m. to Noon.

The event will also provide an opportunity to properly dispose of unused, unwanted or expired medication. Residents will also be able to turn in old cell phones and chargers to be donated to Cell Phone for soldiers.

TCJobFair2016VILLA PARK – State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) will host a job fair on Aug. 24, 2016, at the Odeum, 1033 N. Villa Ave., in Villa Park.

“I make it a priority to offer opportunities to connect job seekers with potential employers,” Cullerton said. “Anyone seeking new employment should come meet with the more than 100 employers we will have in Villa Park.”

The event is open to the public and runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Veterans will have the opportunity for early admission starting at 10 a.m.

The event is co-sponsored by Itasca Mayor Jeff Pruyn, Lombard Village President Keith Giagnoro, Glendale Heights Village President Linda Jackson, Oakbrook Terrace Mayor Tony Ragucci, Bensenville Village President Frank Soto, Roselle Mayor Gayle Smolinski, Carol Stream Mayor Frank Saverino, the Illinois Department of Employment Security and multiple chambers of commerce throughout the district.

“Protecting seniors is a top priority. These seminars offer them an opportunity to learn how to protect themselves from fraud,” Cullerton said.

The seminars are offered by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office. Her staff will provide information about protecting senior citizens and their families from financial scams and health care fraud.

“If you are looking for ways to find savings on your property tax bills, I urge you to take advantage of this seminar,” Cullerton said. 

Residents of York Township should bring:
•    Appraisal (if done in the last 1.5 years)
•    Closing statement (if the home was purchased in the last year)
•    Property tax bill
•    Valid state ID or driver’s license

***Property tax experts will be on hand to offer advice to homeowners to help them lower their tax bills.

This seminar is part of a series of Property Tax Seminars hosted by Cullerton this summer.
