081915CM0995RTrsSPRINGFIELD- State Senator Tom Cullerton’s (D-Villa Park) legislation, that allowed the DuPage County Board to dissolve many appointed positions to provide taxpayers with a smaller and more efficient local government, is projected to save DuPage County taxpayers more than $100 million over the next 20 years.

To further protect area residents Cullerton advanced a measure to protect the DuPage County Water Commission out of the Senate this week.

“DuPage County has been a leader in government consolidation by creating a model for other communities to embrace to save Illinois taxpayer dollars,” said Cullerton. “This legislation ensures DuPage County residents have a voice in their local board to carry out their concerns.”

Senate Bill 381 changes the Water Commission Act to ensure DuPage municipalities have representation from their local elected officials on the DuPage Water Commission. Governor Rauner’s Administration recognizes the commission’s authority to maintain representation is necessary to ensure local boards have the tools to effectively serve area residents.

Senate Bill 381 passed the Senate with bipartisan support and now moves to the House for consideration.
