CHICAGO – State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) co-sponsored a new law streamlining the network of agencies, foundations and organizations geared toward helping veterans.

The recently signed law creates the Illinois Joins Forces Foundation a group that works as a go-between helping coordinate services and streamlining how these organizations interact.

“There are so many organizations and agencies with missions to help veterans that it can be overwhelming for returning veterans. Illinois Joining Forces will streamline and coordinate those services to best help our servicemen and women,” Cullerton said.

The foundation collaborates with other groups to create a no-wrong-door system where veterans can approach different groups that can then seamlessly direct veterans to the program or organization that best meets their needs.

The law took effect immediately after being signed.
