T. Cullerton Open HouseState Senator Tom Cullerton hosted an open house at his district office on April 4 to meet with constituents and introduce his office and staff.

“I was happy to get the opportunity to speak with residents of my district directly concerning issues important to them,” Cullerton said.

Almost 60 people showed up to speak with the senator one on one about many topics, from concealed carry to pension reform. The constituents were pleased to have a personal conversation with the senator.

BLETSeveral new members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) visited State Senator Tom Cullerton in the Senate on Wednesday, March 20th.

These new members, some from Cullerton’s district, came to Springfield for training on safety, cleanliness of engine and working environment, sanitation, and also political education.

“I was proud to recognize them on the floor when they were in town,” Cullerton said.  “It’s great that they are here learning about the legislative process and had a chance to visit the Statehouse.”

Unpaid BillsIllinois State Senator Tom Cullerton attended a meeting on Tuesday, March 12,  to hear testimony regarding the State’s backlog of unpaid bills.

“These unpaid bills are a nightmare,” Cullerton said. “It’s unfair to our schools, businesses and taxpayers. We need to find a solution and to put this debt behind us.”

In the meeting, the Comptroller’s Office, the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget and other groups briefed the senators on specific details about the unpaid bills, which add up to around $7 billion. Education, higher education and Medicaid are the services with the highest amount of unpaid bills from the state.
