gunThe Illinois State Police announced instructors can begin training individuals for concealed carry licenses Tuesday. ISP has finalized training materials and guidelines for instructors.

ISP approved 757 instructors from across the state and has also released a listing of existing training programs that can help satisfy the 16 hour requirement.

Applications for licenses will be available Jan. 5, 2014, but people interested in applying must complete the required 16 hours of training beforehand.

TCJobFairSixty employers and over 200 job seekers came together for a jobs fair in Villa Park on Wednesday. State Senator Tom Cullerton, the Illinois Department of Employment Security and eight local chambers of commerce hosted the event.¬¬

“So often, lawmakers talk about creating jobs—today we are able to put employers and people seeking jobs directly in touch with each other,” Cullerton said. “You get a great feeling seeing someone walk in without a job and walk out with one.”

Job seekers were able to meet with employers, distribute resumes and interview for positions.

Tom Cullerton Sternberg LightingState Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park), visited Sternberg Lighting’s Roselle production facility and headquarters Monday.  Sternberg Lighting manufactures and sells architectural and exterior lighting installations.

“It is important that we appreciate the vital role that manufacturing plays maintaining economic stability and employment security in our communities,” Cullerton said.

Sternberg Lighting has been an important source of manufacturing and engineering jobs in Chicagoland since it was established in 1923. The 150,000 square foot facility is specially designed to reduce heating and cooling costs and optimize natural light.

LowResBioPicState Senator Tom Cullerton spoke to members of the Glendale Heights Chamber of Commerce Wednesday. Cullerton gave an update on legislation affecting businesses in the region.

“This is an important time for suburban businesses, and I ‘m glad to discuss issues facing employers as the area recovers economically,” Cullerton said.

Cullerton discussed Senate Bill 494, work on the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway, current pension negotiations and economic opportunities for regional businesses.

“With new transportation projects and statewide investment in roads and highways, we are seeing new opportunities for development and growth,” Cullerton said.
